Ever wondered what happens at a Puppy Party? We followed Harry the 8 and and a half week old Sprocker (Springer x Cocker Spaniel) at the Puppy Party he was invited to on the 19th August to see what he got up to…

On arrival, after everyone had introduced themselves, Harry and the other 7 puppies (who have all had their first vaccinations) plus their owners all learnt about how to get properly socialized and picked up some useful tips on training from two of Croft Veterinary Centre’s nurses, Sam and Ali. Much of this information can be found on the Pet Info Library section of our website. All the puppies got to put what they had learnt straight to use as they got to have cuddles with each others owners and then puppy playtime! Harry got to meet all shapes and sizes of dog – from Poppy the Jack Russell to Stanley the English Mastiff. He particularly enjoyed playing with Tia the English Springer Spaniel (including telling her off!) and playing with the dog puzzle.

The puppies then got a tour of the practice including the consult rooms, kennels, operating theatre and x-ray room where a few interesting x-rays were on display. Lots of dog owners report that this kind of fun and relaxed visit to the practice means their dogs are more happy and confident at visits to the vets later in life.

After all that Harry was feeling pretty sleepy, but after a good nights sleep was full of beans and feeling full of confidence after all his new experiences and making lots of friends at the puppy party.

Harry belongs to Debbie, one of the receptionists at Croft Veterinary Centre. He’s pretty cute so we’re hoping to post more photos of him and what he gets up to on our Facebook page at You can “like” us to follow Harry’s adventures, check out photos of all the other puppies who have come to a Puppy Party, and for the latest news and information from the practice.
